Once you’ve decided to focus on website content, you’ll want to break this task down as well. A low-tech website content planning technique involves using envelopes and index cards.
Each index card represents a page of your website while each envelope represents a grouping of similar pages.
Low-Tech Website Content Planning Supplies
Here’s what you’ll need to get started:
- A file folder
- Envelopes – cut in half and glued to the inside of the folder
- Index cards
Start with five to six cut-in-half envelopes as that should be sufficient for the basic categories (Home, About Us, Services, etc.,) of your website.
How to Create Your Low-Tech Website Content Plan
- Write each page’s name (such as Company History) on the front of an index card; on the back, write down three key points to include (such as year established, mission, and core values). At this point, keep it simple and don’t worry about the details.
- Once you have your index cards prepared, organize them into groups. For example, Company History and Meet the Team pages are similar and perfect for your About Us section. Each of your services should go be grouped together as well. Place each grouping into an envelope labeled with the appropriate category such as Home, About, Services, Contact, and Support.
- Place your envelopes in a file folder and plan on working on one envelope at a time.
This is a low-tech, but simple, website content planning tip. As you work on each section, you’ll have a platform on which to build. You can also easily add new pages or ideas to each section on paper. This is a great way to gather and organize your thoughts.
What do you think? Is low-tech sometimes better than high-tech?

Internet Marketing Plan with red markers © by IvanWalsh.com
It’s easy to feel overwhelmed as you launch a website for the first time or venture into the world of content marketing. After all, not only do you need a website, you may want a blog, a Facebook page, a Twitter account, and a series of articles or press releases. You might even want to set up an email campaign. Where to begin?
Start by writing down each content marketing channel you want to use. While you may be anxious to start, it’s important to have a plan. By breaking your goals down into smaller goals, you can then focus on your action plan one step at a time.
As you write each marketing channel or objective down, think about what needs to happen first. In most cases this will be the website and its content. While your website designers are working on the design, you can start working on the actual content. Whether you plan on writing it yourself or hiring a website content writing service, your primary focus at this point should be on the getting the Web content ready.
After your site is live, you can then move on to the next content marketing step. For example, if you plan on marketing your business using press releases, focus on setting up a press release account and writing your first few press releases before you move to the next objective which might be setting up a Facebook page or opening an EzinesArticles account.
If you try to do everything at once, you could get distracted or feel so overburdened you don’t do anything at all. By doing working on one content marketing objective at a time, you’ll make steady progress and have all of the basic accounts in place for your ongoing marketing efforts.

As a website content writing company, Celestial Content Services is in the business of selling words. Not just any words but words that communicate your specific message. While we sell words for a living, those words don’t just appear out of thin air…
They have to make sense. They have to convey your unique message. They have to resonate with your customers. They need to be structured just so. They should be spelled correctly.
They can’t intrude or call attention to themselves. They shouldn’t cause readers to stumble over them – or worse, cause them to stop and ask “huh?” They need to appeal to readers on an emotional level. Sometimes, the words should show a little spunk, a little personality so to speak; other times they need to be objective and authoritative. Words may need to refer to higher authorities and cite them accordingly.
In addition, words must be popular. They must cater to the demands of search engine users and the engines that serve up results. Keyword phrases aren’t always natural sounding, yet they must be worked into the website content without sounding contrived.
Words can generate traffic. They can inform. They can reassure. They can incite emotions. They can set the pace. And they can prompt readers to take action – if they are crafted with all of these conflicting requirements in mind. Creating effective website content isn’t easy because a single word isn’t a just word. Each word is a cog in complex machine.
Celestial Content Services understands how to string the right words into sentences that make sense both to readers and search engines. We speak to readers first, search engines second. Contact us today to learn more.
