Should Your Site have a FAQs Content Page?
FAQs content pages, by design, contain frequently asked questions and their answers. Not only can a FAQs page help your website visitors gain a better understanding of your products and services, they also provide you with additional opportunities to:
- Build credibility and trust
- Discuss areas of expertise
- Reinforce benefits
- Explain important concepts that might not be covered elsewhere on your site
- Add additional keyword phrases into the content
- Bring up issues (and solutions) your customers may not have thought about
- Engage with website visitors
FAQs content pages are among the easiest pieces of website content to write because you already know most of the questions (and the answers) that your customers ask you. But don’t limit yourself to the obvious questions.
Think about questions your customers might have but may be too embarrassed to ask and then write those down. Adding these questions make your FAQs content page even more helpful because they anticipate what’s on your website visitors’ minds. Finally, think about the questions related to your business that people enter into search engines. Include a few of those as well to assist with your site’s overall appeal to the search engines.
Now that you have a bunch of questions written down, weed out the ones that sound contrived and overly self-serving such as “Why are you the best widget maker on earth?” As with all of your website content, your FAQs page should be easy to read and feel genuine and authentic. This doesn’t mean that you can’t reinforce the benefits you offer in your answers or explain your goal of becoming the best; it simply means to keep it real.
Finally, organize your FAQs content so that the questions make sense and work your way through the list answering them in an authentic manner.
